I'm so glad you've made your way here. Being followed around by a lady with a camera can sound like a vulnerable and intimidating experience, but I promise it's not as awkward as it sounds! Actually, it's a lot of fun, and my goal is by the end of a session or wedding day, you don't leave as a client, but as a new friend. (And that's not just a cliche' statement, I absolutely mean it!) I'd love to get to know you and document your life's big milestones. So if I'm going to be at these intimate moments of your life, you should probably know a little about me...
My name is Jenny. I'm a Californian by birth, Coloradan by college affiliation (Go Buffs!) and was lovin' and livin' in the Heartland of Oklahoma for 8 years before moving to Whidbey 2 years ago. We are thrilled to be back on the West Coast, and we don’t have plans to leave anytime soon. (Looks like you’re stuck with us Washington!)
I'm married to a hunk of a pilot (10 years and going strong) and we have twin 4 year olds and twin infants. (I only deliver in pairs apparently.) What does this mean for you? I know how to wrangle even the most stubborn husband, toddler and/or groomsman for your photos.
I've photographed over 100 weddings with J Hodges Photography, and probably have teared up at least once during each of them. But I do it discretely, so don't worry about an ugly mascara face. I bring my own tissues.
I'm allergic to yellow. No, seriously. Yellow dye #6 has sent me to the hospital twice.
I started shooting professionally in 2009. Before taking J Hodges Photography full time, I worked in public relations and running digital media for some pretty great clients and national brands.
When I launched JHP, I was exclusively shooting weddings and engagements. But soon after, clients started having kiddos, and so birth, maternity and family pictures soon followed. I love capturing love stories, but I treasure the relationship I make with my client's and their families throughout the various stages of their lives.
Fun fact: The couple that my husband and I call our closest and best friends were once strangers that I met at a consult at a coffee shop. They were my first wedding 8 years ago, and I still can't believe how I hit the friend-jackpot with them. We're now godparents of their 3rd child.
The coolest place I've ever been was hiking through Northern Scotland and wandering upon the Highland Games where The Proclaimers were giving a free concert. Epic.
Nail files give me the heebie jeebies. Well, not just nail files but sandpaper specifically. I get goosebumps every time I touch one.
I prefer rain, a fire and hot chocolate to the most crystal clear and sunny day. (I guess it's a good thing I'm in Washington State!)
I can't wait to tell your story.
You value relationships and interpersonal connection.
If your relationship was a novel, it wouldn't just be a love story but an adventure! Dynamic and emotional.
You want beautiful artistic images without being stoic or overly posed. Emotional storytelling speaks to you.
You might be a little nervous about having your photos taken, but you're willing to trust in the process....and maaaayyyybeee even let yourself enjoy it!
You love to laugh.
You find beauty in nature and are up for exploring our PNWonderland!
You appreciate quality and understand the importance of printing your images so that your children and grandchildren will have tangible documented memories.
You don't mind getting your feet sandy, taking the path less traveled or climbing rocks.
If this sounds like you, let's chat!
