I'm so glad you've made your way over to my little corner of the internet. Being photographed and followed around by a lady with a camera can sound a little intimidating, but I promise it's not as awkward as it sounds! Actually, it's a lot of fun! I'd love to get to know you and document your life's big milestones. So if I'm going to be at these intimate moments of your life, you should probably know a little about me...
My name is Jenny. I'm a Californian by birth, Coloradan by college affiliation (Go Buffs!) and was lovin' and livin' in the Heartland of Oklahoma for the last 7 years. We are thrilled to call Oak Harbor on beautiful Whidbey Island home and to be back on the West Coast.
I'm married to a hunk of a pilot (8 years and going strong) and we have twin toddlers. What does this mean for you? I know how to wrangle even the most stubborn husband and bridal party for your photos.
I've photographed over 75 weddings with J Hodges Photography, and probably have teared up at least once during each of them. But I do it discretely, so don't worry about an ugly mascara face. I bring my own tissues.
I'm a dog-person and totally get that you want your pups to be in your pictures. You bring Fido. I'll bring the dog treats.
I'm allergic to yellow. No, seriously. Yellow dye #6 has sent me to the hospital twice. Curse you macaroni and cheese!
I started shooting professionally in 2009. Before taking J Hodges Photography full time, I worked in public relations and running digital media for some pretty great clients and national brands.
When I launched J Hodges Photography, I was exclusively shooting weddings and engagements. But soon after, clients started having kiddos, and so birth, maternity and family pictures soon followed. I love capturing love stories, but I treasure the relationship I make with my client's and their families throughout the various stages of their lives.
Fun fact: The couple that my husband and I call our closest and best friends were once strangers that I met at a consult at a coffee shop. They were my first wedding 7 years ago, and I still can't believe how I hit the friend-jackpot with them.
The coolest place I've ever been was hiking through Northern Scotland and wandering upon the Highland Games where The Proclaimers were giving a free concert. Epic.
Nail files give me the heebie jeebies. Well, not just nail files but sandpaper specifically. I get goosebumps every time I touch one.
I prefer rain, a fire and hot chocolate to the most crystal clear and sunny day. (I guess it's a good thing I'm in Washington State!)
I can't wait to tell your story.
