She made us totally comfortable, like everyone’s favorite aunt or sister she fit in as if she was family and made for a very unstressful part of the day.

hello + welcome

I’m so glad you’re here

my favorite things

note: “my family” would probably be more like 99.9% of “my favorite things” - but that’s quite visually boring on a pie chart.

About Me

My name is Jenny.  I'm a Californian by birth, Coloradan by college affiliation (Go Buffs!) and was lovin' and livin' in the Heartland of Oklahoma for 8 years before moving to Whidbey 5 years ago.  We are thrilled to be back on the West Coast, and we don’t have plans to leave…ever. (Looks like you’re stuck with us Whidbey!)

I'm married to a hunk of a pilot (12 years and going strong) and we have twin 6 year olds and twin 2 year olds. (I only do things in pairs. To continue this trend, we recently adopted a border collie puppy + a goldador pup together too.) What does this mean for you?  I know how to wrangle even the most stubborn husband and/or groomsmen for your photos.

I've photographed hundreds of weddings and elopements with J Hodges Photography, and probably have teared up at least once during each of them.  But I do it discretely, so don't worry about an ugly mascara face.  I bring my own tissues.

I'm allergic to yellow.  No, seriously.  Yellow dye #6 has sent me to the hospital twice.

I started shooting professionally in 2009.  Before taking J Hodges Photography full time, I worked in public relations and running digital media for some pretty great clients and national brands.

Fun fact: That first wedding I shot 12 years ago? They were complete strangers I met at an Oklahoma coffee shop for our first consult. Over a decade later, my husband and I are godparents to their 3rd kiddo, and we’re privileged to call them our best friends.

I prefer rain, a fire and hot chocolate to the most crystal clear and sunny day.  (I guess it's a good thing I'm in Washington State!)

I felt like Jenny was not only my photographer, but also my friend and a wedding coordinator. She was there for me every step of the way. She made sure everything went smoothly and according to schedule. She really captured all the wonderful candid moments.

Jenny Hodges is amazing to say the very least. After looking at multiple photographers for our engagement photos and wedding photos, we found Jenny and it was the BEST decision we made. Not only did we get an incredible photographer, but a very special friend.
